East Village Times was created in April of 2015. The site started as a Padre fan site but has grown into much, much more.

In 2008, I lost my only son to cancer. He was an infant and needless to say, I was pretty disheveled for a long time. It took me a while to find an outlet to heal, and I did just that, in writing. This site is a work in progress. It is built with love and care. We take pride in what content we create and hope you, as the reader, enjoy it.

The family type atmosphere that has developed within the writers of this site has been magical to witness. As a group, our sole mission is to provide quality information about San Diego Sports. Our bread and butter are the San Diego Padres, but we have built an excellent relationship with the Tijuana Xolos, San Diego Fleet, San Diego Sockers, and San Diego Seals. In the coming months, we hope to ramp up coverage of other aspects of San Diego Sports. There are several other teams worth devoting coverage to as well.

The site featured a very successful Podcast. National writers Ken Rosenthal, Jonathan Mayo, Craig Goldstein, Dan Szymborski, Scott Miller, Kyle Glaser and more were on the show. We have also had the opportunity to welcome Mark Grant, Don Orsillo, Jesse Agler, Wayne Partello, Kurt Bevacqua and others to the podcast. The Podcast is on hiatus but could return in time.

As the site has grown, we have brought in daily and weekly pieces such as “Framing the Friars” and “Down on the Farm.” The framing pieces are written to provide an analytical spin to the Padres day-to-day efforts. The farm piece is written each night and highlights the best and worst efforts from those in the Padre’ minor league system.

We have multiple writers credentialed throughout the Padres’ minor league system. We have writers and contributors in Fort Wayne, El Paso, Amarillo, Lake Elsinore, Arizona, and Tri-City. We have also spent time in the Dominican Republic visiting the Padres facility there. We are entirely educated in the whole Padres system. The complete staff takes their work very seriously, and we continuously strive to bring only quality content. I am also credentialed by the San Diego Padres major league team.

The site is also credentialed by the San Diego Fleet, San Diego Sockers, Tijuana Xolos, Tijuana Toros, and San Diego Seals.

The progression of the site is remarkable. It is ever-growing and always looking to develop into something bigger and better. The editorial staff works hard to put out the best content from our team, and I want to thank them for their hard work.
